60 is an auspicious number when it comes to a person’s age; and in Guru Vyjayanthi Kashi’s 60 years of journey through life, more than 3 decades has been devoted to Kuchipudi. As we celebrate this milestone, Shambhavi School of Dance conducted the 18 Day long First Online International Kuchipudi Seminar which started on 7th May 2020.

The Seminar was hosted live on the Facebook and YouTube page of Shambhavi School of Dance featuring a total of 42 Kuchipudi
Gurus, Academicians, Performers and Critics.

Conceived by
Vyjayanthi Kashi , the main intention of this Seminar was to unite the Kuchipudi community and address some of the significant issues that concern Kuchipudi today.

It was an earnest attempt to create a platform for an open dialogue amongst Kuchipudi Gurus, teachers, research scholars, young practitioners and also Kuchipudi enthusiasts, in order to give Kuchipudi and its practitioners, the rightful place.

Some of the issues that were addressed as part of the Seminar are the current status of Kuchipudi, present day challenges and ways to cope with it, preserving of Kuchipudi tradition, its technique, repertoire, popularity, training methodology, innovations, and more. We personally believe that, in the present context, this would be possible only if the Kuchipudi community can unite as a whole and work towards this front.

PS: Originally, we had planned to organise this seminar in Bengaluru later this year. However, due to the present situation round the globe, it seemed unlikely and we decided to host it online instead.
